An ancient fishing village, Lower Largo is located on the north side of the Firth of Forth. This is an attractive village with a wide variety of charming cottages, houses, a pretty harbour and beach.
Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish sailor who spent four years as a castaway on an uninhabited island is said to have inspired Daniel Defoe’s fictional character Robinson Crusoe. A life size bronze statue of Selkirk can be found outside the site of the cottage where he was born.
